UOAA World Ostomy Day Celebrations

I encourage you to set this logo as your FB profile photo. It’s available here: http://www.facebook.com/UOAAinc

Ostomy buddies: World Ostomy Day is coming up! On Saturday, October 6, there are all sorts of ways you can celebrate. I will post more events and ideas as they come up.

Today I have some info from the UOAA (United Ostomy Associations of America) for you. In case you didn’t know, the UOAA is not just for people who currently have ostomies. Anybody with J-Pouches or any other diversionary surgery, or is considering ostomy surgery will find them helpful too. And friends from around the world are welcome!

UOAA Facebook Page: get updates and join the conversation

You should definitely check out the UOAA World Ostomy Day Virtual Picnic! The event description: “It is a chance for those of you who may not be able to attend your local support groups event, or who do not have a support group near you. Meet up here on Saturday October 6th, 2012 and talk about awareness, and spreading the word about the positive things about ostomies. Seize The Opportunity! Let’s Be Heard!”

Some support groups are holding events so if you check this list and don’t find one, you can contact the leaders of local groups and ask them if they’re doing anything cool to celebrate.

If you’re near Libertyville, IL, Pacoima, CA, or Skillman, NJ, you are within a reasonable distance to open house events at the headquarters of major ostomy manufacturers.

If you would like to donate or see where donations go, head over to Donate to UOAA.
