Resources: Facebook Things Part 2

Here’s another installment in my series of posts about Facebook communities and pages. This time, I’m sorting them into categories for you.

Chronic Illness:

Advocacy for Patients with Chronic Illness, Inc.: The recent loss of this wonderful organization’s founder, Jennifer Jaff, affects so many of us. If you’re living with a chronic illness or disability and wondering about any legal issues, this page is for you. Company Overview: “Advocacy for Patients provides free legal information, advice and advocacy services to patients with chronic illness, in areas including health and disability insurance, Social Security disability, employment discrimination, school-based accommodation, and resource location.”

Inflammatory Bowel Disease:

CCFA Campus Connection: This recently launched site for college students is exciting. I haven’t fully explored everything, but it addresses a previously neglected age group. The Facebook page is handy for updates, articles, and meeting new friends.

IDEAS (Intestinal Disease Education and Awareness Society): An advocacy organization aimed at reducing the stigma of intestinal diseases.

Worldwide Crohn’s and Colitis Community: Somewhat self-explanatory, but here’s the mission statement: “To gather the latest and greatest info on Crohn’s and Colitis to share with the Facebook world. We welcome, non-profits and charities, stories, product suggestions, event notifications, book reviews and anything else that might be of value for those affected by IBD (and their support network).”

Ostomates Unite: A private group run by the fabulous Stephanie Vinson. She created this page so “For Ostomates everywhere to band together and provide loving support.”

Uncover Ostomy: Jessica Grossman’s ostomy awareness campaign

United Ostomy Associations of America: Like this page to receive updates on UOAA activities and learn more about this great organization.
